Since its significant overhaul in 2021, the NX 350 Overtrail urban luxury SUV has garnered favor among Taiwanese consumers for its nimble urban driving dynamics and cutting-edge safety features.
As a response to the varied preferences of owners, the brand is set to introduce the all-new NX 350 Overtrail version starting from the 2025 model year.
Introducing the NX 350 Overtrail
Lexus has announced several updates for the NX model year in Japan; the most important of which was the introduction of Overtrail hardware designed to appeal to off-road enthusiasts. In addition to improved handling and ride, the SUV also gained new color options and new models.
Off-Road Adventure Ready
Lexus NX Overtrail brings with it a number of improvements designed for those seeking adventure beyond the paved roads. While not as rugged as its GX counterpart, the Overtrail trim boasts practical additions for off-road excursions.
This includes 18-inch alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tires, providing better traction, coupled with a 15 mm increase in ground clearance. Additionally, track-specific setup for variable speed suspension reduces vibrations on uneven terrains.
Distinctive Design
Externally, the Overtrail edition showcases there is black paint on the rims, grille, window coverings, door handles, mirror caps and ceiling, complementing the new Moon Desert exterior color option. Inside, the upholstery features an exclusive Monolith/black color scheme with elegant wood accents on the door panels.
Variety of Options
Overtrail variants are available in NX350 (non-electric 2.4-litre), NX350h (2.5-litre HEV) and NX450h+ (2.5-litre PHEV) versions without any changes to the powertrain.
Chassis Enhancements and Enhanced Standard Features Across NX Trims
As part of the 2024 model year updates, Lexus engineers have fine-tuned the NX’s suspension for improved handling and comfort, while reinforcing the chassis with additional bracing for increased rigidity.
All-wheel-drive capable versions benefit from an enhanced Trail mode, while performance improvements are seen in the NX350, NX350h, and NX450h+. Furthermore, noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels have been reduced, resulting in a quieter cabin environment.
Visual Updates and Standard Features
Visually, the 2024 Lexus NX remains unchanged with the introduction of a new Sonic Copper exterior tint and Hazel interior options. “L version” model feature body-colored fender garnish and offer a Solis White interior option.
Standard equipment has been upgraded across the lineup, with the NX250 and NX350h models now featuring the 14-inch infotainment touchscreen from the NX450h+. This replaces the previous 9.8-inch unit. Additionally, all models now include illumination in the rear door, two USB-C ports in the center console and visible VIN plate in the glass.
The F Sport trims of the NX350 and NX350h come with full LED headlights with adaptive high beams. Optional features such as the panoramic sunroof, highly requested by customers, are now available for the NX450h+.
Availability and Pricing
The updated 2024 Lexus NX is now available for ordering in Japan. Prices start at ¥5,120,000 ($34,023) for the entry-level NX250 2WD, with the top-of-the-line NX450h+ Overtrail AWD reaching ¥7,725,000 ($51,334).
